MSU-developed innovative cost-saving bridge construction technique.
The
Civil Engineering department offers an exceptional opportunity for students
interested in bridge design. In cooperation with the Bridge Division of
the Mississippi Department of Transportation, MSU has created a program
in bridge design that emphasizes design based on the Load-Resistance-Factor-Design
(LRFD) Bridge Design specifications of the American Association of Highway
and Traffic Officials. This program teaches the fundamentals of bridge design,
with application of current state-of-the-art computer software. The cooperation
between MSU Civil Engineering and MDOT's Bridge Division is very unique,
and offers both undergraduate and graduate students opportunities to learn
the many facets of bridge design and construction. Students completing MSU's
bridge design program are prepared to go right to work, whether for MDOT
or private consultants.
