Geotechnical Lab

The Department maintains a state-of the art soil mechanics laboratory. The soil laboratory was recently undergoing a major renovation and is equipped with traditional as well as advanced geotechnical engineering testing equipment. The lab is primarily used for teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in geotechnical engineering as well as for research carried out by the Geotechnical Engineering group. The lab is equipped for running different tests including soil index tests (e.g., particle size distribution, moisture content, Atterberg limits), standard and modified compaction, permeability, consolidation testing, direct shear, and triaxial testing. The laboratory equipment is connected to fully automated data acquisition systems.
