Dr. N. "Wasi" Wasiuddin is a Professor of Civil & Environmental Engineering at the Mississippi State University. He is the holder of the Materials and Construction Industries Professorship. Dr. Wasiuddin served as a professor of Civil Engineering at the Louisiana Tech University from 2019-2025. He was the holder of the Robert Howson Professorship from 2013-2025. He was the Graduate Coordinator of Civil Engineering from 2013-2025. He served as an Associate Director of the Southern Plains Transportation Center (SPTC), a federally funded regional university transportation center established in 2013 (www.sptc.org) until August 2025. His research expertise is in the area of pavement materials and engineering primarily in asphalt technology including modified binder rheology, recycling agents, warm mix asphalt, asphalt emulsions, surface treatments, thermodynamic and physico-chemical characterization, spectroscopic analyses, micro- and nano-scale characterization, moisture damage and cracking in asphalt pavements. Dr. Wasiuddin published thirty-five peer-reviewed journal papers and also authored over one hundred conference papers and technical reports. According to citation database SCOPUS, he has 1092 citations with h-index of 17. He served as the PI of thirty-five externally funded research projects that brought in about $2.8M to Louisiana Tech since 2007. Dr. Wasiuddin holds a provisional patent in which he developed a novel warm mix additive from an industrial by-product. Dr. Wasiuddin presided over many conference sessions including in Transportation Research Board (TRB) Annual Meetings and presented at the various TRB Webinars as a panelist and an invited speaker. Dr. Wasiuddin served as a member of many national and international committees including TRB Technical Standing Committees, ASTM Technical Committees, Louisiana Transportation Research Center (LTRC) Policy Committee and LTRC Foundation Board.
