Congratulations to Shanika Musser, CEE undergrad, who was selected to receive the Theta Tau Tomorrow Builder Award for her work on biochar.

May 22, 2021

Shanika Musser has been working on an honors thesis focused on the utility of biochar for the removal of microbial contaminants from water. Shanika had previously worked in Dr. Misna’s lab (Chemistry) on the removal of certain soluble contaminants from water using biochar. Her work has been supported by an ORED undergraduate research grant and the BCOE undergraduate research scholarship.  Shanika participated in the Undergraduate Research Symposium for Spring 2021 and her work and presentation received the Theta Tau Tomorrow Builder Award.  Her Honors Thesis has been successfully defended and has been awarded a Fullbright grant that would allow her to continue studying biochar.
