Former Faculty and Department Heads/School Directors

While the civil engineering program started in 1902, administration for this department remained in the college of engineering until a separate department was formed and the first department head hired. The Department of Civil Engineering was established in 1924. In 2006, the name of the academic unit was changed to the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering. In 2020, the department was administratively elevated to the status of a school within the college and the name of the unit was formally changed to the Richard A. Rula School of Civil and Environmental Engineering due to the generosity of the Rula family. With this change, the title of administrative leader was changed from Department Head to Director.
